The EWBA and Cardiff Bridge Club ran a stand at the Cardiff University Freshers’ Fair on Wednesday 25th September. The event was organised by Geoff Evans and Gilly Clench, but the stars of the show were, no doubt, Mel Thomas and Sooz Nesom, who worked very hard all day to attract card-playing enthusiasts. Over 200 students signed up to a mailing list to be contacted with details of “taster sessions”. Leaflets with the details of CBC, instructions on how to play mini bridge, free pens and packs of cards were also handed out. We hope that some of this initial interest endures and we can welcome some younger players in Welsh bridge.
